This year, the number of swastikas that have appeared scrawled into Newton Public School facilities has been shocking. We all feel a deep concern about why these incidences are increasing and are all thinking about what we can do to make a difference. For Shavuot this year, we want to gather together to talk about your experiences at school—what are you seeing, hearing and experiencing?

We want to learn together about how Judaism understands these types of micro aggressions and will be looking at some interesting sources to encounter similar challenges that our ancestors faced generations ago. And then we’ll be thinking together about how we can work to fight against the forces of antisemitism in our world.

We’ll begin with a teen dinner from 6-6:45 p.m. outside (in the Youth Lounge, pending weather), followed by Shavuot learning from 6:45–7:30 p.m. with Rabbi Aliza Berger and Wayne Goldstein.

Teens are most welcome to stay and join the adult learning program following.
