Books provide a glimpse into the life and experiences of people, and books about the Holocaust offer this in a unique way. During this book club, learners will read about real young people and fictional accounts of a history that needs to be told in order to never happen again.

The class is a discussion-based class, so arrive prepared to talk on camera (if possible) about your thoughts, opinions and impressions from the reading for the week.

Supplemental resources, such as vocabulary, handouts, graphic organizers, games, videos and audio clips may be used during class to expand the lesson and broaden the conversation about the book.

Our book club will meet weekly and discuss the Holocaust at an age-appropriate  level. Students will need to read 100-150 pages per week.

The general breakdown for class will be as follows:

  • Week 1: “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”
  • Week 2: “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”
  • Week 3: “The Librarian of Auschwitz”
  • Week 4: “The Librarian of Auschwitz”
  • Week 5: “The Librarian of Auschwitz”
  • Week 6: “Code Name Verity”
  • Week 7: “Code Name Verity”
  • Week 8: “Beneath a Scarlet Sky”

Entries may be changed based upon student interest and/or request. Free for members.
