What is the legacy of the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin 25 years after his assassination? What meaning does his legacy have to you personally?

On Nov. 4, 1995, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated at the end of a massive peace rally in Tel Aviv. This military general turned peacemaker, including presiding over a peace treaty with neighboring Jordan, was clearly a great leader who played numerous roles throughout his life and impacted Israeli and Jewish history in significant ways.

Over time, the legacy of great leaders is constantly being re-evaluated. The Consulate wants to hear from you, the younger generation who were not even born during Rabin’s lifetime, regarding the significance of his contributions and his legacy. In what way is Rabin’s legacy relevant to you? What lessons, if any, can be applied to America or even globally today?

We will select three finalists and provide awards as follows:

First prize: $400
Second prize: $250
Third prize: $150

The first-prize winner will be invited to read their essay at our virtual tribute to Yitzhak Rabin on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
