Registration for Temple Emmanuel’s Chai School is now open. Classes, led by experienced Jewish educator Brenda Dolan and Rabbi Greg Hersh, are small enough to provide excellent individual attention, but large enough for engaging group activities through drama, art and music. The curriculum allows children to explore their Jewish roots, regardless of their level of observance, affiliation or prior knowledge. Families are not required to have membership in our synagogue. Families come from many neighboring towns.

Kindergarteners, ages 5-6, will meet on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. This class will focus on introducing students to basic Jewish prayers, learning the Hebrew language through English and Hebrew songs, and studying Jewish holidays with multisensory themed creative activities.
First and second graders, ages 6-8, will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Designed for students who are just starting or building upon their Jewish education, this class will focus on Jewish prayers, learning Hebrew language and studying the Torah and Jewish holidays and traditions with creative activities.
Third through sixth graders, ages 8-12, will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m. This class is for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish knowledge and are interested in becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. The innovative curriculum will also focus on Torah study and discussion, as well as singing prayers and other Jewish songs.
Weekly bar/bat mitzvah classes are also available with Rabbi Greg for students ages 12-13 to focus on bar/bat mitzvah preparation, including learning to read from the Torah.
