How will you engage preteens and teens on the anniversary of Oct. 7?

As Jewish communities around the world are marking this day, Moving Traditions has designed a teen-specific curricular guide for educators and clergy who are marking the one-year anniversary of Oct. 7. This helpful curricular guide, which outlines a one-hour educational experience for teens, will help your students:

  • Reflect on the first anniversary of Oct. 7 and consider what it means to them as North American Jews
  • Gain an understanding of the major events that took place in the aftermath of Oct. 7 and reflect on their own personal, emotional timeline of the past year
  • Participate in a ritual of grief and memory to mark the anniversary of the loss

This guide features:

  • Educational activities that explore the social, emotional, and spiritual elements of remembrance and loss.
  • A timeline of major events of the year that you can modify for your students.
  • Activities that help students reflect on their Jewish identity and connection to Jewish peoplehood over the past year.
  • Poetry that reflects on the tragedy of Oct. 7
  • Stories about some of the teens who lost their lives on Oct. 7
  • Suggestions of Jewish rituals to mark the day

Join us as we review the contents of our new guide, explore potential options for using it in different settings, and open a conversation about how we can help Jewish teens to process what happened one year ago and how it continues to impact our lives.
